Here are some Air Conditioning facts that might explain why it is not functioning properly:

1. Air conditioning systems naturally leak at a rate of 10% to 20% per year, depending on how often the system has been used over the long winter months.

2. If the gas level gets too low the system will not operate.

3. Air conditioning systems need to be regularly switched on and circulated. The air conditioning gas contains an oil lubricant that lubricates the pipes, seals and compressor. Lack of use causes leaks and non-lubrication of essential parts. Even in winter, the system requires switching on. 

4. Notice bad odour smells from the air conditioning system when switched on? mould can build up and develop from condensation in the system.
